Born on September 17, 1963 in Southern California
Grew up in Santa Cruz, California and began playing drums at the age of 14.
He toured with Ray Charles from 1988 - 1990
Jeff moved to New York in 1990. Since then, he has played and/or recorded with Lou Donaldson, Chick Corea, Buddy Montgomery, Mike Stern, Danilo Perez, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Joshua Redman to name only a few. Currently, as well as being a member of the Brad Melhdau Trio, he is a co-leader of the collective group FLY (feat. Mark Turner, Larry Grenadier, Jeff Ballard), Jeff continues to play occasionally with Chick Corea, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and others.

Born November 10, 1965 in Fairborn, Ohio, Mark Turner moved with his family to California when he was four. Turner started playing clarinet at 9 then later switched to alto then tenor saxophone as a teenager. He studied art at Long Beach State and California College of Arts and Crafts. He then transfered to Berklee College of Music graduating in 1990 with a BM in performance.
Since moving to New York he has worked and or recorded with musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel,
Dave Holland, Paul Motian, Brad Meldau, John Pattitucci, Dave Douglass, Billy Hart, Lee Konitz and James Moody.
He on dozen's of recordings as a sideman as well as five of his own recordings.

Larry Grenadier was born in 1966 in San Francisco, California. He
began playing bass when he was 11. As a teenager in the San Francisco
Bay area, Larry played with Joe Henderson, Stan Getz, Bobby
Hutcherson among many others. He graduated from Stanford University
in 1989 with a degree in English Literature.
In 1990, Larry moved to Boston to play with Gary Burton's band. In 1991 he moved to New York City where he played in the bands of Betty Carter, Joshua Redman, Danilo Perez, David Sanchez, Tom Harrell, Joe Henderson, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Paul Motian, Charles Lloyd and Brad Mehldau as well as recording dozens of records.
Larry is also a member of the collective trio, Fly, along with Mark Turner and Jeff Ballard. Their first recording for Savoy was released in January 2004
